I illustrated "The Monthly Cycle of Women", or "El Ciclo Mensual de la Mujer” in Spanish, for a birthing center in Guatemala, where my sister, a nurse, was volunteering. She wrote the text, and I illustrated it with Guatemalan flowers that to me, evoke the abundance and opulence of being female. You can select for either a Spanish or English print below.
The floral illustrations represent womens’ health, the natural environment, and the regional embroidered patterns of rural Guatemala.
I illustrated the flowers and text by hand and added color digitally. The prints are produced in my neighborhood by a fine art printer, using giclee ink and archival paper. The print is durable and will never fade!
